“Images for Science” Exhibition & Master Class

The GRU Arts Council hosts the Royal Photographic Society’s “Images for Science” exhibition, with 100 of the world’s best photographs in the science realm.

In addition, Mark Maio will host a Master Class on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 2 p.m. Mark Maio, President of InVision Inc. and the 2012 Outstanding Contribution to Ophthalmic Photography award winner by the Ophthalmic Photographers’ Society, will speak on his 35+ years experience in digital imaging with a time for question-and-answer as well.
A reception in the Reese Library will immediately follow the Master Class.

Now accepting unpublished student work in the areas of fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction, drama and visual arts for publication in the 2015 edition of Sand Hills Magazine. We are also accepting submissions for a new Sand Hills logo to be featured in the upcoming edition.

Cyber-Education Summit

GRU will present a summit focused on advances in cyber security and ways to promote cyber education. The summit is hosted by U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.) and feature leaders from the Department of Defense and National Security Agency, including keynote speaker Admiral Michael Rogers, NSA Director and Commander of U.S. Cyber Command.

This year, the Festival will feature Sounds Unlimited, Mike Frost Band, and TuTu D’Vyne featureing Quiet Storm. We are pleased that Wondaland Arts Society national recording artist Roman GianArther will perform during the festival.

Tickets for general admission cost $25. Tickets for children under 17 years and student tickets are $10 (current Student ID Required). Purchase tickets in the office of Institutional Advancement at Paine College, located in Haygood-Holsey Hall, Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM.

GRU Day of Service
The next Day of Service for Georgia Regents University will be Saturday, Sept. 6. Employees, students, and their families will be given the opportunity to serve the local community through volunteering and serving those in need.

Service opportunities will be available at the Ronald McDonald House in Augusta, the Golden Harvest Food Bank, and the Columbia County Food Pantry in Appling, among other locations.

After reviewing the list of organizations and assignment descriptions, sign up for a two- or three- hour shift at the service location of your choice by Thursday, September 4.

Wellness Council Interest Meeting
The Wellness Council will be holding their first interest meeting Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 12 p.m. in the JSAC Hardy Room. This organization will be the driving force in determining student health and wellness event and initiative decisions for the campus. Snacks will be provided.

SPEA Headshot Fundraiser
We will all soon be applying for jobs, residencies, and other career goals. A great option to have in furthering a career is a professional photo headshot. This can easily cost $150 and up. The Student Professionalism and Ethics Association in Dentistry GRU Chapter will be providing professional quality headshots taken at a professional studio for a fraction of the cost at $30 to raise money for future events and speakers.
