Volunteers are needed for both the Take Back the Day 5K on 4/18/15 and the Take Back the Night Rally on 4/23/15. Attendance will be taken at all events and sent to the appropriate faculty or staff. Students sign up for volunteer duties at Volunteer Spot:

Low Down Throw Down Roller Derby Tournament
The Soul City Sirens will be hosting a 2 day roller derby tournament at the Columbia County Exhibition Center May 2-3 8AM-8PM. 13 teams will be participating. This includes Men’s and Women’s Roller Derby.

Running through the Decades 5K/10K Resolution Run
Georgia Regents University Physician Assistant Class of 2016 proudly presents the Running through the Decades 5k/10k Resolution Race on March 28th 2016 from at Savannah Rapids Park. This annual fundraising race benefits the Christ Church Health Clinic that is run locally here in Augusta, Georgia. Please come dressed in your best decades costume ready to run for a great cause. Prizes will be given for the Top 3 finishers and for the Best Costume!

Participating DQ locations will be offering FREE vanilla cones on Monday in return for donations to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital! Limit one small vanilla cone per customer.

Bon Air Apartments located at 2101 Walton Way is seeking volunteers to help during their Resident Appreciation Week. The apartment community has a population of disabled and elderly residents. If you are interested in serving food, playing games or socializing and are available on April 20th from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm for the Resident Breakfast or April 24th from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm for the Resident Cookout please contact Monique Moore, Service Coordinator, at 706-667-2336.

STEM Career Connect Day
The Savannah Rivers Scholars Program at Georgia Regents University will host a Career Connect Day on Friday, Mar. 6, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., in Allgood Hall room N-126. This event will give students the opportunity to interact and gain career advice from a panel of professionals in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Workforce Investment Act (WIA) may be able to assist with your financial aid needs. Attend an orientation or call a WIA case manager to see if you qualify!

Basic Eligibility Requirements: Eligible participants will have already been attending an approved post-secondary school and have an established GPA at 2.5 or better. Must be residents of Richmond, Burke, or Jenkins counties and meet certain income eligibility guidelines.  Other requirements apply – please call for more information.

Register for the GRU Augusta Half Marathon and 10K
February 22 at 8:00 AM
The first race of the year on many local runners’ calendars is the GRU Augusta Half Marathon and 10K. Make it yours, too, by registering at augustahalf.org, and join TEAMGRU!

When prompted to complete the registration form, under the category titled “Team Information,” select “Join a Team.” While the available teams populate, type “TEAMGRU” into the search bar. Select “TEAMGRU (Aligood).”

Once you click “continue,” you’ll be ready to check out! This is where you’ll enter one of four discount codes, depending on the event (10K or all other events):  GRUSTUDENT10K or GRUSTUDENT

Those who aren’t faculty, staff, or students may use the GRU5OFF discount code for $5 off any event. Please ask your friends and family to join TEAM GRU when they register.
