The Fulbright Scholar Program is a program of the United States Department of State Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs. The Program sponsors U.S. and foreign participants for exchanges in all areas of endeavor, including the sciences, business, public service, government, and the arts and continues to increase mutual understanding between the people of the U. S. and the people of other countries.

Latino Americans Series: “War and Peace.”

The next event in the Latino Americans series, “War and Peace,” will focus on the history of Hispanic/Latino service members. The program will begin with a screening of the “War and Peace” episode from the documentary series Latino Americans. Following the film, Dr. Heather Abdelnur will lead a panel discussion of Hispanic/Latino veterans.

Jazz at the G

The GRU Jazz Ensemble is showcased at the next “Jazz At The G” concert, presented by The GRU Dept. of Music, and GPB-Augusta, the NPR Radio station on GRU’s Summerville Campus. The group will play straight ahead jazz, “Basie-style” swing, Latin jazz, and jazz funk. The concert is Tuesday, November 10th, 7:30 PM at Maxwell Theatre. Admission is free with a valid JAGCard.

Lecture: Pursue the Amazing World of International Opportunities

Dr. Fell will discuss examples that will help you think about how you can get involved, including international service trips with professionals, involvement in international professional associations, lecturing in other countries, leading interprofessional service teams with students to other countries, research and scholarly collaborations, developing educational programs in other countries, and a sabbatical year teaching in a different country.

Nominations should include the name of the instructor and a description (no more than 100 words) of the act that led to the nomination. Send nominations to facultydevelopment@gru.edu. Submissions will be accepted continuously throughout the fall semester, and an announcement of the winners will be made monthly.

3rd Annual Shine a Light on Summerville Campus Ghosts

Get to know the friendly ghosts on the University Summerville Campus. This walking tour of the campus showcases the ghost’s stories and historical antecedents. The event starts with a “Jack O’Lantern” craft for younger walkers. The walk will start at 7:00 PM. Walkers will meet at the JSAC patio. Bring flashlights if you feel you need them.
