Medcalfe receives Distinguished Paper Award

Simon Medcalfe, assistant professor in the Hull College of Business, received the 2012 McGraw-Hill/Irwin Distinguished Paper Award from the Southwest Case Research Association for his study A Downtown Stadium for the Augusta GreenJackets Baseball Team.

“It is my hope that the information laid out in the case can be used by decision makers in the community to make the best decisions for the economic development of our city,” says Medcalfe.

Medcalfe will receive the award at the Federation of Business Disciplines Conference in New Orleans in March, where he also will present his case study. The March meeting typically includes around 800 participants, representing approximately all 50 states and many foreign countries. The Best Paper Award is sponsored by Irwin/McGraw-Hill/Irwin, Inc.

Medcalfe, an assistant professor of finance, joined the ASU faculty in 2008. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Leicester University and his doctorate from Lehigh University.
